For Obama and Congress: No Real Issues Please

We know that our current tax system is a disaster with more loop holes in it than Swiss cheese.  Instead President Obama would rather make it more complicated by proposing that Congress pass the Buffett Rule by increasing taxes on the very wealthy.  We all know that the Bush Tax cuts are expiring on January 1, 2013 and both Congress and the President have come up with proposals that would limit or extend the tax cuts to certain segments of the population and limit the tax cuts to other segments, but neither of these proposals really address the overall tax issue?  What about addressing the whole miserable tax code with its five and a half million confusing words?

Presently, we have no comprehensive immigration policy. So what does Mr. Obama propose – granting a form of a “temporary status” to 800,000 young illegal immigrants that very well may be worthy of consideration but who may still find themselves in “citizenship limbo” for years. Mr. Obama’s exact words were: “This is not amnesty. This is not immunity. This is not a path to citizenship. It is not a permanent fix.” So why do it?

Both the President and Congress know that we have to restructure our current entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare.  It is only a matter of time before both programs become unsustainable.  So what does Mr. Obama do?  He proposes and Congress enacts a 2% payroll tax reduction that comes directly out of the Social Security taxes that are withheld for individuals further eroding the funds that support Social Security in years to come!  Am I missing something here?

Again both Congress and Mr. Obama know that our National Debt is growing and the annual interest alone is fast approaching $500 billion dollars.  So what does Mr. Obama do?  He keeps submitting budgets to Congress in each of the past three fiscal years that contain within each budget over a trillion dollars in deficit spending that adds to already growing National Debt.  Is Mr. Obama on the same page as America?

Am I the only one that is worried as to what will happen if the Supreme Court rules part or all of Obama Care null and void and unconstitutional?  Does anyone in Congress have a backup plan?  Is anyone even addressing or considering these issues?

I suspect that by the time that this article is printed Congress will be on vacation. Maybe they should stay on vacation until after the election for all that they will accomplish in Washington.  Maybe Barack should consider a long vacation during the coming months as well.  Didn’t Nero fiddle while Rome burnt?
